Rhetor 10: Call for Papers

The editors and editorial committee of Rhetor: the Journal of the Canadian Society for the Study of Rhetoric invite submissions for the journal’s 10th volume, with articles to be published on a rolling basis in 2025. Rhetor is a bilingual (English and French), refereed, online journal published by RhetCanada, a scholarly society dedicated to the study of rhetorical history, theory, and practice. The journal’s scope includes, but is not limited to, the following subjects:

  • Rhetorical Theory
  • Rhetorical Criticism
  • Classical and Historical Rhetorics
  • Visual, Material, and Multimodal
    Rhetorics
  • Rhetorics of Gender, Sexuality, Race, Ethnicity, Age, Class, and other Social Identifications
  • Rhetorical Pedagogy
  • Rhetoric and Composition
  • Digital Rhetorics
  • Rhetoric and Popular Culture
  • Rhetoric and the Body
  • Rhetoric and Music
  • Professional Rhetorics
  • Rhetoric and the Environment
  • Rhetoric and Religion
  • Rhetoric of Science
  • Rhetoric and Literature
  • Rhetoric and History

Submissions should not exceed 7,000 words and must follow Modern Language Association guidelines (9th edition). Prospective authors are advised to familiarize themselves with previous issues of Rhetor and to follow the manuscript style outlined in our Submission Guidelines. Rhetor welcomes articles in either English or French.

Authors should include the following with their article submission:

  1. an abstract of between 250 and 300 words
  2. a list of approximately five key words pertinent to the manuscript
  3. a cover letter with the author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information including email address(es). Authors should not include names or identifying information in the article itself.
  4. a three- to four-sentence author biography statement
  5. a statement of exclusivity indicating that their submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication in another journal, book, or collection

Les éditeurs et le comité éditorial de Rhetor : Le Journal de la Société Canadienne pour l’Étude de la Rhétorique, vous invitent à soumettre vos articles pour son dixième volume, à paraître en 2025. Rhetor est une revue électronique bilingue (anglais et français), référencée et publiée par RhetCanada, une société savante dédiée à l’étude de la théorie, de la pratique et de l’histoire de la rhétorique. Les centres d’intérêt de la revue sont variés et comptent notamment (mais pas exclusivement) :

  • La théorie rhétorique
  • La critique rhétorique
  • La rhétorique antique et l’histoire de la rhétorique<
  • La rhétorique visuelle, matérielle et multimodale
  • La rhétorique des genres, de la sexualité, de la race, de l’ethnicité, des classes et autres identifications sociales

  • Rhétorique et culture populaire
  • La rhétorique et le corps

Les articles soumis ne doivent pas dépasser les 7000 mots et doivent respecter les normes éditoriales de la revue (http://rhetcanada.org/journal/submission-guidelines/). Nous recommandons aux auteurs de consulter le dernier numéro de la revue pour se familiariser avec les normes en question. Les articles peuvent être soumis en anglais ou en français.

Les articles soumis doivent être accompagnés :

    1. d’un résumé de 250-300 mots ;
    2. d’une liste d’environ 5 mots-clefs ;
    3. d’un document reprenant les nom, affiliation et coordonnées de l’auteur (y compris l’adresse e-mail). Attention : l’identité ou toute autre information permettant d’identifier l’auteur ne peuvent figurer dans l’article.
    4. d’une notice biographique de 3-4 lignes ;
    5. d’une déclaration d’exclusivité assurant que le manuscrit n’a pas été publié ou soumis ailleurs
